What is a gearbox?

A gearbox, also known as a transmission, is an essential component in a vehicle’s powertrain system used to transfer power generated by the engine to the drive shaft. The gearbox utilizes gears of different sizes and ratios to provide torque and speed combinations necessary to power the wheels of a vehicle.
